Growing fresh ginger at home is simple and rewarding with just a few steps.
Start by selecting a healthy, plump ginger root with visible “eyes” or buds.
Soak the root overnight, then plant it in a wide pot with rich, well-draining soil.
Place the root just below the surface with the buds facing up.
Keep the pot in a warm, partially shaded spot—ginger loves humidity and indirect light.
Water regularly, keeping the soil moist but not soggy.
Shoots will appear in a few weeks, and the plant will mature in 8–10 months.
You can harvest small pieces once the plant is well-established.
Cut carefully and replant the remaining root for continuous growth.
